As an opportunity to let the world know about China, one of the major challenges it faces is: “How to make traditional Chinese Fonts radiate new vitality in modern times.” Designers try to “answer” this issue, the Huan Yuan Calligraphy came into being.
With the design concept of “restoring modernity with tradition” and the use of post-modern design language—Deconstruction and Reconstruction, the Huan Yuan Calligraphy takes the brush and the skeleton as the entry point. From the perspective of the brush, the Huan Yuan Calligraphy takes the meta edition as the foundation of the brush, and the modified horizontal brush looks like the upturned branches. Because of the characteristics of the brush, the word “Huan Yuan” is taken. It means the design done by the edition of the “Huan Yuan” to restore the traditional charm of the calligraphy itself. From the aspect of skeleton: the Huan Yuan Calligraphy is based on the modern skeleton, and the creative addition of Running Hand which gives the work a modern sense. It also retains the traditional handwriting sense of the font. Therefore, “calligraphy” is used as the last two words in the font name, aiming to clarify the font style for the audience. At the same time, correct the name of “the sense of flowing clouds and flowing water” in the Huan Yuan Calligraphy.
Huan Yuan Calligraphy as an “answer” to the new vitality of Chinese Fonts in modern times. When Huan Yuan Calligraphy are used in daily life. The audience’s senses can get corresponding comfort: the eyes can taste the “thick taste”—the innovative sense of food packaging, the mouth can feel the “soft cloud”—the clear sense of drink packaging, the heart can feel the “weight of life”—the texture of daily necessities packaging.
